Crescent Roll Veggie Pizza with Herbed Cream Cheese
This Crescent Roll Veggie Pizza is an easy appetizer with a flaky crust, a creamy herb and cream cheese layer, and plenty of fresh, crunchy vegetables. They’re perfect for potlucks, picnics, holiday gatherings, or anytime you need an appetizer that’s simple to prepare and always disappears quickly. Or, cut the into large squares to serve for a light summer lunch or dinner!

This crescent roll veggie pizza has been one of my favourite make-ahead appetizers for years. I first discovered the recipe after attending a Pampered Chef party over 20 years ago, and it quickly became one of those recipes I could always count on whenever I was asked to bring an appetizer to a gathering. Although I have tweaked it slightly, it has earned a permanent place in my recipe box because it’s simple to make, easy to transport, and always one of the first appetizers to disappear.
Both cheese and pastry together make such yummy appetizers. You’ll love this Baked Apple Brie Puff Pastry appetizer recipe. Or, for dessert this Fruit Pizza with a chocolate pastry crust!

Why You’ll Love These Crescent Roll Veggie Pizza Squares
- make ahead appetizer – can be made early in the day and still be crisp and delicious when time to serve
- perfect for pot lucks – it’s my favourite recipe to bring when I’m asked to bring an appetizer for any occasion, as they are easy to transport and are a real crowd pleaser
- the veggies – such an easy and delicious way to take advantage of seasonal local veggies and to get in a serving or two of extra vegetables for the day
- easy to customize – choose whatever veggies you like, or change the herbs in the cream cheese for a whole different flavour profile
- a simple dinner or lunch – I often serve this for lunch or dinner in the spring and summer months, cutting into large squares and leaving the veggies chunky instead of the petit cuts for appetizers

Ingredient Notes
Crescent rolls – I use low fat crescent rolls without any sacrifice to flakiness or flavour, but full fat is certainly fine, they bake quickly, and result in a crisp flakey, buttery base for the toppings.
Cream Cheese – you can also choose full or low fat (I don’t recommend fat free) for the cream cheese layer, be sure to bring to room temperature to make it easier to blend and spread over the baked crescent rolls
Seasonings – dill and lemon make the tastiest flavour combination that pair perfectly with the veggies, however feel free to try your own favourite herb combinations
Vegetables – using fresh vegetables are essential, and I often choose what is local at our Farmer’s market, cut into small pieces for a appetizer portions or larger pieces if serving as a meal
My Favourite Veggie Combination
We love it topped with fresh, local broccoli, bell peppers, red onion, and cucumber from the garden.

Making Cream Cheese Veggie Squares in a Few Simple Steps
Be sure to check out the full PRINTABLE recipe card below!

- Unroll crescent rolls and arrange to fit a 11 by 15 inch rimmed baking sheet (I use a small rolling pin for this step) and bake for 15 to 18 minutes
- In a mixing bowl combine cream cheese, mayo, and herbs, spread over cooled crust
- Top with chopped veggies, chilli for about an hour before slicing into app size or full serving size squares

Helpful Tips From My Kitchen
After making these dozens of times, these are the tips I have found make for the best cream cheese veggie squares
- allow crust to cool completely before spreading on the cream cheese mixture
- pat dry veggies such as cucumbers and tomatoes (if using) that tend to hold more moisture
- An offset spatula is my favourite tool for spreading on the cream cheese without causing the top layer of the crust to lift off
- lightly press veggies into the cream cheese mixture
- cover in foil and chill for about an hour before slicing for nice clean cuts
Easy Ways To Change It Up
- sprinkle with a bit of crispy crumbled bacon
- add a bit of shredded cheddar cheese over top of the veggies
- use fresh dill instead of dried when in season (I use 3 times as much when using fresh)
- swap the dill for parsley or chives

Making Ahead and Storage
These squares are perfect for making ahead. I have made them up to 3 hours ahead, left them on the baking sheet, covered in foil and popped into the refrigerator until ready to serve. I don’t recommend making them the day before, as they are best the day they are made, but a few hours ahead is just fine. You can however chop all the veggies and prepare the cream cheese mixture the day before, and store in the fridge until ready to assemble.
Store any leftovers in an airtight container or wrapped tightly and refrigerate for up to one day for best flavour and texture. I don’t recommend freezing as both veggies and crust would become too soggy to be edible upon defrosting.
While these veggie cream cheese squares are delicious any time of year, I find myself making them most often during the holiday season. Between Christmas open houses, family get-togethers, and New Year’s celebrations, it’s one of those tried and true appetizers I can prepare ahead of time, leaving more time to enjoy my time with family and friends.
