I never used to be a breakfast person until I realized how important it is to fuel your day. If I’m in a time crunch and can’t make my usual Toasted Steel Cut Oats for breakfast, I can whip up this decadent protein smoothie in under 5 minutes!

Ingredients You Will Need

  • unsweetened soy milk – provides a creamy base and adds extra protein
  • cocoa powder – gives it the delicious Black Forest chocolate flavour
  • coconut sugar – a bit of sweetness with a hint of caramel
  • whey isolate powder – gives it a protein boost and is satiating
  • frozen sweet cherries – for sweetness and authentic Black Forest flavour

How to Make A Black Forest Smoothie

Add all ingredients to a blender and process until smooth and creamy

Substitutions and Variations

  • use unsweetened cashew milk, almond milk, 2% or whole milk
  • add ice cubes for an extra thick smoothie
  • add fresh spinach for a serving of greens
  • top it with fresh whipped cream for a really indulgent treat
  • use 2 or 3 pitted dates in place of the coconut sugar, or eliminate sugar all together

  • 1 ½ cups unsweetened soy milk or milk of your choice
  • 1 ½ tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 5 tablespoons unsweetened whey powder
  • 2 teaspoons coconut sugar
  • 1 cup frozen sweet cherries

Instructions

Notes
