Setting a Valentine’s Table That Feels Like Home
Doing something a little different with my Valentine’s Table setting this year! Nothing over the top, just a simple, easy and fuss free, table that feels like home!

Today I am back to join 17 other tablescape enthusiasts to share our vision for the perfect Valentine’s Day Table. Again, big thank you to Rita from Panoply for getting us all together. At the end of this post you’ll find the links to all the tables, so grab a cuppa, settle in, and prepare to be inspired!
A Table Inspired By My Word of the Year
It took me forever to choose a word of the year. While I was planning for this Valentine’s tablescape it hit me.

HOME! That is my word for 2026. The simple word that will guide me through the way I live, create and care for our home. We have so many plans for our little cottage this year, and for so many other reasons mentioned below, choosing it as the word to guide me this year just felt fitting.
Valentine’s Day is the perfect “holiday” to embody to my word. My husband and I have been married 40 years this year, and we don’t need all the pomp and circumstance that often comes with February 14th! Our love is woven into everyday moments, and it simply feels like home!

A Cozy Valentine’s Day Table Setting Starts With Simplicity
When I think of what home means to me, it often comes back to the table. Not a formal one, but the kind where we sit a little longer, talk a little more, and just enjoy the time together.
I wanted this table to feel calm, somewhat whimsical, but not styled for show. Nothing fancy, just a few thoughtful pieces that bring me joy, and come together in a way that feels natural and lived in.

Natural Layers That Make A Table Feel Like Home
I love the relaxed faded bow border of these plates. That, along with the whimsical scalloped edges are unfussy yet whimsically romantic.
I used my buttery soft linen napkins with a faded red stripe that pair perfectly with the plates. I love the relaxed wrinkled look they have. And pairing the stripes with the bows add another easy, unfussy feel to the table.

I chose to use my acrylic water glasses with a gold edge and have a soft rippled effect, in keeping with the soft scalloped lines of the plates.
Round natural rattan placemats provide a casual and homey vibe. I opted not to use a tablecloth or table runner to keep it simple and fuss-free.
Simple mix-matched everyday flatware finish off the place settings.

Simple Centrepiece
With the high cost of flowers around Valentine’s Day, rather than splurging, I opted to keep things simple by using faux greenery in rustic clay pots, and faux flowers casually arranged in tarnished silver ice cream cups.

I actually pulled the faux roses and peonies off a spring wreath I made a couple of years ago. Talk about getting your moneys worth!

You all know how much I love fresh flowers, but in all honesty I love the freshness the greenery brings to the table. They can stay on the table long past Valentine’s Day. And, the practicality of them is part of what makes a house a home.
What We’re Serving for Valentine’s Day
- A simple green salad to start
- One of my husbands favourites – Sunday Chicken served with basmati rice
- For Dessert, one of my favourites – Easy Strawberry Galette that I will make in the heart shape version
Simple food, a cozy table and the love of my life! Nothing more is needed!

Little Details
The tiny cloches with their little ruffled edges were a fun find this past summer. I Instantly got a cozy cottage vibe when I saw them! I was going to pick up some heart shaped macarons from the market, but it was way too cold to venture out on market day this week. One thing my husband never forgets is how much I love chocolate, so in a nod to him I thought it would be fun to include one chocolate heart under each cloche!

Craving Calm
Over the years I have styled plenty of Valentine’s tables that leaned fully into themes! Pinks, reds, hearts, flowers, all the pretty details that make the day feel special. I have loved creating those tables and they still bring me joy. But, this year I am craving something a little quieter. A table that aligns with where we are now, and what home means to me in this season of life.

If you prefer a more traditional look for Valentine’s Day, I have shared a couple of links below, each styled differently, but created with the same passion for gathering and celebrating!
- Pretty In Pink – features gorgeous pink roses and a fun hand made paper table runner
- Bold and Beautiful – gorgeous bold colours and flowers that will have you swooning
Why Home Matters So Much
Something you may not know about me is that I am a complete HomeBody! I find the most joy right here at home, often gathered around the table, savouring simple moments with people that I love.

If you’ve been around for any length of time you already know that I love all things cozy, and this year I am leaning in to it more than ever. In this crazy world we are living in I want it to feel warm, welcoming and lived in. Somewhere you instantly exhale when you walk through the door and feel like a warm hug, and I have so many plans to get it exactly there.
If there is anything this season of life has taught me, it’s that love doesn’t have to be over-the-top to be genuine and meaningful. For me it’s the quiet, familiar moments that mean the most!

I hope you have enjoyed my HOME inspired Valentine’s Table. Be sure to pin this post for later, and scroll down for more stunning tables!

Perfect table Maureen and perfect sentiment of HOME! Everything about and upon your table reflects your ‘word’. I, too…like simple and relaxed and congratulations on 40 years together which gives us the comfort of being simple, cozy and relaxed everyday and on all holidays too. The little red heart in the cloche is adorable as is the relaxed red striped napkin beside your lovely plates trimmed in red. I use faux flowers even if the weather is great, as I love my home so much, I enjoy being home…so the cold weather doesn’t have to give me an excuse not to go out although, Ice and snow is certainly a deterrent. Your red and pink roses in ice cream dishes are a great choice for your cozy home dinner. Happy Valentine’s Day and stay warm and keep the lights on! ❤️❤️
“Home” is a wonderful word to have as a word of the year. This table certainly depicts that. It is understated, yet cottage-y, cozy, and very romantic. Those plates with the red ribbon and bows around the edges really blow my skirt up. They are fabulous! By the way, I looked at your recipe for Sunday chicken and have saved that to make in the future. It does look delicious.
Maureen, you mastered your goal with this table. Love the simplicity, yet the details are striking. The red bow rimmed dishes are so special. Love the little cloche w/ heart at each place setting. Beautiful! Happy Valentine’s Day!

Your table might be simple, but it is lovely! I really like the faux plants and the little beribboned plates: They are darling! Happy Valentine’s Day!
Maureen, your word for the year is perfect! I love being home, no place I would rather be. Your table is elegant in its simplicity. The bow border on your plates is so charming as are the cloches with the chocolate hearts. Your faux peonies and roses are so pretty. I can see that conversation would flow so easily at this sweet table. It is always a pleasure to join you at the table. Congratulations on your 40 years of marriage and Happy Valentine’s Day!
Your tables are always so artistic, Maureen! This one looks straight out of a magazine! Everything – from the glassware to the roses, and the cutest little domes – is wonderful, and so inviting! Your plates and napkins are lovely together, and the simple and as you say, un-fussy, nature of them is a wonderful allusion to your 40 years together. 40 years – that’s impressive. Congratulations! And your menu sounds delicious, as always. The galette is making my mouth water! It’s always lovely sharing a hop with you! Here’s to a wonderful quiet and meaningful Valentine’s Day!
Maureen, I am 100% with you, craving calm and the benefits of home! I think you have your priorities well set for the year, and your table speaks volumes to the what the invitation means. Making each place setting special with those super cute ribbon edged plates and well-used linen napkins speaks to both comfort and attention to pretty details to elevate the moment such as Valentine’s. I love the extra special touch of the chocolate under the dome.
Thank you for bringing a real sense of home to hop and the table.
Maureen, your table is lovely and speaks perfectly to your word of the year, Home. It is casual and relaxed, yet quietly elegant at the same time. The bow-rimmed plates are so pretty and I love the soft linen napkins you chose. Reusing the peonies and roses from your wreath is so clever and the greenery is so calming. Your menu sounds delicious. Congratulations on your upcoming 40th wedding anniversary and I hope you and your husband have a wonderful Valentine’s Day!
Maureen, I love the subtle patterns and the soft shades of red and that you’ve used for your tablesetting. With the varied textures of the placemats and napkins you’ve used, you’ve created an easy-going table that will be comfortable on many different occasions. Enjoy Valentine’s Day!
Maureen, your table is absolutely lovely and a beautiful reflection of your word of the year, “Home”. It strikes that perfect balance between casual comfort and quiet elegance. I love your bow-rimmed plates and the sweet cloche atop your heart chocolate! Your menu sounds wonderful too. Happy 40th anniversary to you and your hubby. As always, it’s a treat to hop with you, wishing you a magical Valentine’s Day. ♥
Maureen, this truly feels like a love letter to HOME — and I absolutely adore the quiet, meaningful simplicity you created. The bow-rimmed plates and tiny cloches with the chocolate hearts are such sweet, thoughtful touches, and I love how the natural textures and relaxed layers make everything feel warm and lived-in. There’s something so beautiful about celebrating love in a way that reflects real life and long years together. Congratulations on your 40th anniversary — and I’m so happy to be hopping along with you!
