Chocolate Lush Dessert
This easy Chocolate Lush Dessert is a family favourite! It’s easy to make with just a few simple ingredients, and is always a big hit at summer get-togethers.

But don’t save it just for summer! This versatile chocolate dessert is made up of a shortbread crust, a layer of sweetened cream cheese, followed by a layer of chocolate pudding, all topped off with whipped topping and a sprinkle of chocolate chunks. It also makes a delicious holiday dessert.

Ingredients
- flour
- butter
- sugar
- whipped topping such as Cool Whip
- cream cheese
- confectioner’s sugar
- chocolate pudding mix
- milk
How to make Chocolate Lush Dessert



Combine flour, butter and sugar and press into a 9 by 13 inch baking dish, bake for 10-12 minutes at 375 degrees. Mix cream cheese, confectioner’s sugar and whipped topping until smooth. Spread over prepared crust.



Whisk pudding mix with milk until thickened. Carefully spread over the cream cheese layer. Refrigerate for about 30 minutes, until set. Spread whipped topping over the chocolate layer.

Sprinkle with chocolate chunks or chocolate chips. Or get real fancy and top it with shaved chocolate curls!

Variation Ideas
This would be delicious made with butterscotch pudding instead of chocolate, or make a graham cracker crust instead of shortbread.

Ingredients
For Crust
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 1 stick butter
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
For Layers
- 8 ounce package cream cheese, softened
- 2 cups whipped topping (divided)
- 1 cup confectioner's sugar
- 2 packages instant chocolate pudding
- 3 cups milk
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
Instructions
Crust
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Mix together flour, butter and sugar until well combined. Press into bottom of a 9 by 13 inch baking pan. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes, or until lightly golden. Remove from oven and allow to cool.
For Layers
- Beat cream cheese, confectioner's sugar and 1 cup of the whipped topping until well blended and smooth. Spread over cooled crust.
- In a large mixing bowl whisk together pudding mixes and 3 cups milk until thickened (about 2 minutes). Pour over cream cheese layer and carefully spread to completely cover. Refrigerate for 30 minutes, until set.
- Remove from the refrigerator and top with remaining whipped topping. Sprinkle with chocolate chips.
