Tablescapes

Summer Garden Tablescape

Whether it is casual or elegant, garden tablescapes in the warm summer months are a wonderful way to celebrate the season.

As soon as I feel the first warm breezes of the summer, my attention turns to leisurely dinners in the garden.  It’s those dinners, spent at a thoughtfully decorated table that encourages everyone to slow down and stay awhile, that makes the short season of summer extra special.

When I set out to style a table, no matter the occasion, I always begin by thinking about the dining experience.  Garden tablescapes are no exception. After years of disordered eating, I now have a totally different outlook on food, and I am very much enamoured with the way the French approach mealtime.

I think that is why I love pretty tables so much.  Taking the time to style to table sets the tone for a relaxed meal that begs those dining to stay awhile, slow down, and dare I say….turn of their cell phones!

The garden backdrop for this tablescape was mostly green, so adding a pop of colour with this pretty arrangement featuring flowers from the market and from my garden is the perfect centerpiece for this table.

A wicker wine basket I purchased for a dollar at a local thrift store gives a picnic feel to this pretty table.

The place settings are all thrift store finds.  The crystal etched wheat pilsner glasses were a steal at a local church sale this spring.  I got them for the bargain price of fifty cents each!

The china was found an antique store that was clearing these patterns out.  The salad plate is Limoges and the dinner plates are Bavaria Schumann Original Bridal Rose.   I used my Pier One white large dinner plates as chargers.  Simple inexpensive linen tea towels serve as napkins.

A vintage glass jug holds filtered water, while a Dundee jar in this cutest metal stand holds dessert spoons.

Mismatched flatware and simple silver candlesticks with slim white taper candles round out this summer garden table.

Whether you have a lush garden filled with summer blooms or a tiny table for two on a balcony adorned with potted plants, why not elevate the every day and enjoy dinner in the garden this summer!

This is just one of the many tablescapes you will find here at Red Cottage Chronicles.   You can find tablescapes for ever season here.

This is so pretty, Maureen! I love the mix of patterns and textures with your beautiful blooms. It definitely beckons one to slow down and stay a while.
