Welcome friends! I am so happy to be closing out this weeks Christmas tablescape blog hop with my Mad for Plaid Christmas Tablescape. It has been an exciting week with such a variety of table décor styles. I am loving the plaid in so many of them!
Thank you to the delightful Chloe from Celebrate and Decorate. She hosts a blog hop where our lovely group of table stylists share their vision of the theme for the month! This month, of course, is Christmas!
Be sure to visit all the bloggers this week. All the links are below. I also created a short video to show you how I styled this table from start to finish!
Plaid has always reminded of Christmas, and I do use it often in my décor at the holidays. This year though, it is all about plaid at our house. If should see my Christmas tree! It is all wrapped up in pretty plaid ribbon.
Since my dining room is open to the living room, a plaid Christmas tablescape was definitely in order!
The best part of this year’s table (and my love of plaid) is that I didn’t really need to buy anything.
I used red plaid napkins I already had, and used for this tablescape. They are the perfect focal set on top of the plates.
Can we talk about the fresh table runner?! I was able to use the left over greenery I purchased at the market leftover for other projects.
A simple arrangement of candles creates a centerpiece of sorts. You may have seen the white candlesticks on my tables before. They are really an upcycle project (you can see it here) that are the bases for miniature cake plates. To say I got my moneys worth from these thrift store finds is an understatement!
Red berry branches I had in my Christmas stash add a pop of colour against the greenery. I cut a four strips of plaid ribbon to drape along the greens.
The plaid napkins and a little bundle of boxwood clipped from the backyard really stand out against my favorite white plates. These were purchased at Home Sense a number of years ago.
I didn’t feel the need to add a placemat or table cloth since I like the natural look of the wood table.
Depression crystal Pilsner glasses hold cranberry juice and club soda for a festive, light beverage.
I made the easiest Eggnog Cupcakes and placed each one in a cute plaid paper cup. They make a cute and festive addition to each place setting.
The extra cupcakes sit on the sideboard with a few extra holiday touches! The Santa teapot has been around for years. The little white lantern was a gift from my sister. She made one for each of us. It is adorned with a little angel charm and inside is a little (battery) red candle.
The candle will be ‘lit’ every day leading up to Christmas in memory of our Mom who we lost earlier this year, and our dad who had been waiting for her in Heaven.
Christmas is my most favorite time of the year. The lights, the colours, the plaid! But most of all, it is gathering with family and friends around a festive table to share in the spirit of the season and to look forward to all the possibilities of the coming New Year!
Now that I have shared my Mad for Plaid Christmas tablescape, you will want to visit all the bloggers who styled beautiful tables for Christmas! All the links are waiting down below.

Thank you, Maureen, for the neat video! I love your fresh greens adorned with plaid ribbon and candles. Your vintage pilsners are so pretty and the cranberry juice and club soda sound so good. I love the plaid cupcake holders. Your recipe for eggnog cupcakes also is intriguing. I am sure I would love those.
Your workhouse white dishes with plaid napkins dressed with fresh boxwood sprigs are eye-catching.
Wishing you a very Merry Christmas! I know it is hard this Christmas without your Mom. Thinking of you!
Thank you Bonnie! Feeling Mom all around me, which is so comforting. I hope you get a chance to try the cupcakes! They are so good!

Maureen, can we talk a little more about that centerpiece? Oh my! It’s the star of this tablescape! It is just wonderful, and the ribbon is perfect. I watched your video, waiting for that ribbon trim and wondering how you would add that since it was all coming together without it, hehe. The video was great, but who knew your hair is blond?!
You know I’m mad for plaid, always will be, and I love how you fashioned yours. I’m whispering a little prayer of comfort for you in this first year – a particularly hard one – without your mom. May your Christmas be merry and light. ♥
Thank you Rita! The ribbon was super easy. I two lengths for each side, tucked them in at the centre and just came them a loose twist as I laid them out across the greens! I really need to upgrade my pictures! I let my hair go gray! Planning a post about it in the New Year!

Thank you Shelley!
I am” mad” about the way you styled your centerpiece table runner!! I LOVE the way you simply layered the abundant greens and ribbons! It looks gorgeous and you don’t need placemats at all. It’s fresh, festive and vibrant and sings Merry Christmas! So sorry about your Mom, I love the daily candle lighting in her memory…
Thank you Jenna! I love it when things actually come together like I envisioned 🙂
I love your combination of fresh greenery and festive plaid to create such a pretty table! Have a beautiful Christmas season! Blessings, Cecilia @My Thrift Store Addiction
Thanks so much Ceilia!
There is something to be said about red and green colors at Christmas and the use of plaid. All of which speaks Christmas! Your use of greenery really adds to the tradition of Christmas. Your mix of patterns is what makes this gorgeous table a cozy and welcoming one. Your sideboard with your bar contents and yummy cupcakes look like you are ready to enjoy and wonderful meal, including long talks over drinks and dessert. I am sure those who are seated at this lovely table will find it hard to leave. Have a happy holiday season.
Thank you Marsha!

Mad for plaid is wonderful and so popular. Love the colors and textures you used. The candle add some height to your table and the soft glow is perfect. The Depression crystal Pilsner glasses are lovely. Beautifully arranged greens and ribbons. Love your sidebar with Santa and those yummy cupcakes. A perfect place to grab a cocktail. Merry Christmas Maureen.
I love the video! That is a fantastic addition to your post! I do love plaid at Christmastime! My hubby said let’s do plaid on the front porch this year until I pointed out I had bought TONS of red velvet on sale last year! The fresh greenery on your table is the outstanding element for me! I can just imagine the sweet fragrance! Your plaid ribbon added to it just says “Christmas” . I hope you have a wonderful holiday with family and friends!

Plaid, plaid everywhere, I love it!! The video was helpful, it’s not always we actually see how the tables come together. In addition to the plaid, my eyes were immediately drawn to that pillow with the moose motif. Everything is so well coordinated and I always love to see a sweet treat nearby. May you be comforted this holiday season by the beautiful memories you have of your parents. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
What a sweet idea to light the candle for your mom. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas. Love your tablescape. Especially your fresh green and ribbon runner! Wowza, that’s beautiful.

You had me at plaid! Your centerpiece piece is lovely with the cascades of plaid ribbon, very pretty. I love the Santa on your side bar. He looks like he is checking out all the going’s on, as to who is naughty or nice! The Pilsner glasses filled with cranberry juice was a great idea, not only for the beverage but to add just that little bit more color to your festive table. I hope you have a joyous Christmas season.

Maureen, special hugs and prayers for you, it is so hard to lose your mom. I love all things plaid, so your table pulls at my heartstrings. The fresh centerpiece is just divine and the cupcakes, oh my they look absolutely delicious! I enjoyed your video. Wishing you a blessed Christmas Season!
The table runner is so beautiful!! I love how it came together. I love the plaid napkins and ribbons, so perfectly Christmas! Gorgeous table!
Maureen! This is SO beautiful and my favorite table of the hop. I love all of your personal touches – those cupcakes – YUM. Your centerpiece is perfectly imperfect, and I love everything atop of the bare wood of your table. Such a gorgeous scene all the way around! Merry Christmas to you!
Airmen, your plaid is so festive and perfect for a Christmas table. Reusing all the greenery is so smart. I’m so sorry for the loss of your mom this year. I hope sitting around your Christmas table will bring lots of wonderful memories. Merry Christmas to you and tour family.

Maureen, your centerpiece is a show stopper! So gorgeous! The first thing that caught my eye was your beautiful candle sticks for the pillar candles so I am going to check out your upcycle project!
I too am mad for plaid. Your pops of red paired with the live greenery and the plaid are so festive. I loved the video! Merry Christmas season to ya!
