If you’re like me and tired of hearing the question “what’s for dinner”, this is an easy meal recipe you will want to keep. We have been making it for years, and I can’t believe it has taken me this long to share it with you. We love making a twist on tacos at our house, like we did with this Easy Taco Casserole

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • quick and easy (it will be the hero of weeknight dinners)
  • uses Naan bread from the grocery store instead of traditional pizza crust (shortcut win)
  • customizable making it great for families of all sizes
  • perfect for casual dinners, game night or a twist on Taco Tuesday
  • individual sized means everyone gets to add their own favorite taco toppings

Ingredients You Will Need

I like to keep it simple and stick to just a handful of ingredients.

Ingredients to make taco pizza on Naan bread including shredded cheddar cheese, chopped lettuce and tomato, taco seasoning, ground beef and tomato sauce.
  • individual sized Naan bread
  • tomato sauce
  • cheddar cheese
  • ground beef (I sometimes use plant based ground “beef” for a meatless meal)
  • taco seasoning mix
  • shredded iceberg lettuce
  • chopped tomatoes
  • sour cream (optional)

To make the taco meat, brown ground beef over medium heat in a large skillet. Stir in taco seasoning and water, bring to a boil then simmer for 2 to 3 minutes. Remove from heat.

Place Naan bread on a baking sheet. (Use a large baking sheet if making multiple pizzas) Sprinkle generously with freshly grated cheddar cheese.

Sprinkle with taco seasoned cooked ground beef. Bake in 400 degree Fahrenheit oven for 5 to 7 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly.

Variations

There are so many ways that you can make this pizza your own, making it perfect for picky eaters.

  • add cooked chicken breast for a chicken taco pizza
  • try a Monterey Jack cheese instead of cheddar
  • use a smokey barbecue sauce instead of tomato sauce for the base
  • add some chopped red onion
  • dollop some sour cream on top
  • serve with a side of refried beans
What can I use instead of Naan bread for the crust?

Try a traditional pizza crust, or roll out crescent roll dough onto a baking sheet and bake before adding toppings. Pita bread is also another good option.

Can I make this ahead of time?

Yes you could prepare the taco meat ahead of time and store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days, then assemble pizzas and bake when ready to serve.

Can these be frozen?

I don’t recommend freezing the pizzas, as they taste the best when freshly made. However you can cook the taco meat ahead and promptly put it in the freezer in an airtight container for up to a month. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator, and use within a day.

This taco pizza recipe is proof that simple meals can still be full of flavour and a little fun. Quick to make and easy to customize, it’s perfect for those nights when you want something satisfying without spending too much time in the kitchen. Chances are, once you try it, it will become a regular in your meal rotation too.
