This easy recipe for cheeseburger hand pies features perfectly browned seasoned ground beef and onion in tomato sauce topped with shredded cheddar cheese, all wrapped up in pizza dough and baked until golden. Perfect for lunch, dinner or serve on game day with a marinara dip!
Preheat oven to 400℉ and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
Brown ground beef and onion in a large frying pan until fully cooked. (Beef is done when it reaches 165 ℉ when tested with instant read meat thermometer).
Stir in tomato sauce and Italian seasoning until well blended. Continue cooking for 2 to 3 minutes until heated through. Remove from heat and allow to cool.
Divide pizza dough into 6 equal sized balls. On a lightly floured surface roll each dough ball into a rough circle shape about 1/4 inch thick. Spoon about ⅓ cup filling onto half of the rolled pizza dough and top with ⅓ cup shredded cheese. Fold dough over to cover filling and seal edges well with a fork. Repeat with each dough ball.
Transfer each hand pie to prepared baking sheets and brush well with egg wash and poke with a sharp knife or fork to vent each pie. Bake in 400℉ oven for 15 to 20 minutes, until pizza dough is nicely puffed, golden and cooked through.
